We loaded up for a road trip to RRR near Savannah, Ga. The weekend started off bad with me discovering ~2gallons of water in my gas tank. We spent a couple days at the track and one in downtown Savannah. For me, RRR was an awesome track. I think if it were closer, it could be my favorite track. Definetly a place you need to be comfortable using a lot of track and fast flowing lines through. There is some crazy rippling through the line going into t7, the fastest turn on the track. I never felt really comfortable there. Didnt care for that much. All the turns are big sweepers, and I kept diving into them like they were tight tally turns. Thinking back, I wish I would have experimented with lines a bit more. t1 is a mind-phuk. I was hitting the top of 6th coming downt he front straight, braking like a champ at the first marker, 2 down shifts into 4th and back on the throttle, and I was getting passed like I was site-seeing. I did have some pretty interesting slides during the race. And I finally was able to keep the throttle on when the back end steped out a bit. It seems every other time I immediatley made a throttle correction, but with these long sweepers I just tried standing the bike up more and kept pooring it on. Either way it didnt help me. We had a HWTSS grid of 6, 1 crashed out and I finshed 4th . I was disappointed, but to be honest the guys that passed me were running a klick I couldnt get to this weekend. I had 2 phenominal starts, but my 21s werent fast enough to hold back the top three guy's 19's. I got passed in t1 back to back, if I ever get back there, I will work on braking deeper into t1. Over all, Roebling was mostly....sandy. Lotsa sand everywhere. After that, it was a very fun and fast track. It was a pretty expensive trip, worth doing, but with Barber(s) so close it is hard to justify.
